new windows for the attic!

They’re in!

Project attic window replacement is complete! The originals were totally rotted, wood wormed with no glass or sills - about 100 years past their best.

We started on the easiest window, there were a couple of problems, the framing was out by 2cm in 60. With the window trimmed and lots of old cement packing chipped away it was in.

The next was a little harder because the right side of the frame had dropped a couple of cms, some brutal chopping and twisting and tile replacement was called for, after an hour or so it was in.

The last one was even more racked, 3cms out of true, the framing was buckled and not a little scary to deal with, we both ended up with bad backs!

Ok the new ones look a little bright for now, but after a few months up there they will blend in!

Next project...... jacking up the kitchen roof!??!!
